Mission
The objectives of the Tupelo Ballet are to foster interest in classical ballet and other forms of dance, to provide professional excellence in dance training, to offer serious dancers an opportunity to perform regularly, and to provide programs of the highest artistic quality for the North Mississippi area.
History
The Tupelo Ballet is a non-profit organization chartered by the state of Mississippi in May of 1982. The Tupelo Ballet Company was founded by Sharon Long, who serves as artistic director.
Since the first season, the Tupelo Ballet has presented 41 productions of the Nutcracker, as well as the full-length ballets Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella,
A Midsummer Night's Dream, Coppelia, Don Quixote, Giselle, and Snow White. Tupelo ballet has also performed the short ballets La Fille Mal Gardée, Les Sylphides, and Pas de Quatre.
Community Affiliations
Tupelo Ballet is member of Mississippi Center for Nonprofits,
CDF, and Tupelo Arts Council. It is also a founding member of the Art Rocks Tupelo Festival.
